A glance at the “4 medžiai” project immediately reveals that bold architectural decisions demanded unique and unconventional facade cladding. This individual house complex in Vilnius stands out with its clear forms and layouts that open up the interior space. The overall aesthetics were maintained by selecting charred wood “Sugi Ban Wood” cladding for the facades.
The natural grain of the wood becomes prominent when prepared using traditional Japanese technology. This materiality is well showcased in the “4 medžiai” project – the 8-meter-high house facades provide ample space for the beauty of charred wood to unfold.
The developers of the individual house project had the idea to extend the charred wood motif into the interior. Whether this concept will be realized will depend on the new homeowners.
