The woodworking technology - Yakisugi - was introduced in Japan as a traditional way to protect the surface of wood siding. The technology was used in the construction of traditional Japanese houses before the chemical treatment of wood.
This method of Yakisugi increases the durability of wood, improves fire resistance, prevents the emergence of insects and pods, makes wooden boards more stable. Traditionally, wood has been prepared by hand, but modern production uses burning and grinding machines.
Shou sugi ban wood burned in Japan is still often chosen as a finishing material with good value for money, characterized by easy processing and durability. In the West, meanwhile, in recent years, the technology has received a great deal of attention for its fashionable and modern look - something "special" that perfectly matches individual taste, sustainability and environmental friendliness.
